RUOK13 Sep 2018
Today is RUOK day, a reminder for all of us that its ok to ask for help, to speak to others about what’s bothering you and to be aware that someone around you might not be OK. A reminder to slow down and take notice of the people you know.
Conversations keep the world going around and that simple question might make the world of difference to someone you know. RUOK? Is all it might take for someone to feel they are being heard, for them to feel someone cares, a trigger that allows them to open up and be heard. To simply feel better through conversation.
We all have stuff going on in our lives and we all deal with things differently, some better than others. Often those who hide their issues the best are the ones having the hardest time. Humans thrive on community and feeling alone or that your problems are unique may often be the reason we feel so bad. You don’t have to know all the answers or be a skilled counsellor. No one expects you to solve their problems they just need someone to listen and sometimes just the thought is enough.
So yes you have a lot on your plate but today is the day to take the time to ask for help or simply listen to someone else.
It would make the world of difference.
