“I Give A Shit”11 Oct 2017
We all give a shit about something. We have to, or else nothing would get done. Giving a shit is about care, values, where you choose to put your time and energy.
The question is - what do you give a shit about?
We went along to University of Wollongong to ask a bunch of millenials what they give a shit about when it comes to the environment.
Millennials are often given a bad wrap for desiring instant gratification and being addicted to their phones. After all, this is the generation where we see the rapid increase of fast fashion, and coffee addiction leading to masses of disposable cups in landfill. However, it seems that they are pretty aware of the issues, and are enthusiastic about driving change. We found that they have a willingness to give things a try and take on simple actions that lower their impact. They understand that we need to take care of the planet, and change our naughty habits ....take disposable take-away cups for example.
We had a great day chatting with these guys. Check out their enthusiasm on our YouTube channel. They embrace simple daily acts without any fuss. They care about the future of the planet and don’t see what all the fuss is about. Just use your KeepCup, take your reusable bag, waste less food and maybe catch a bus once in a while.
I would argue that Millennials have a big vision for the future and are looking at being part of the solution. And sure no one is giving up their smart phone just yet. But hey, they’re only human.
It has been said that millennials are highly risk averse. So perhaps the risk of not doing anything is just too high?
