Frequently Asked Questions

So......

You guys list cafes, restaurants and grocery stores right?

Well, almost, but not quite. We find, list and ensure you are equiped with the knowledge you need in order to eat and source the most ethical and lowest impact food options for your given location. Eating shouldn't cost the earth.

Ahh, that feels good.

EVERYDAY QUESTIONS

Sometimes it's difficult to know where your food comes from. So to know what impact it has had on the planet is almost impossible. FFF finds and list the better options wherever you are. Find your food here and feel better knowing its a more ethical / sustainable option.
No, registration and login is only required when adding, commenting or rating a business.
Registering and logging in is simply a mechanism to protect the integrity of the site. It ensures that comments and ratings are from legitimate Fair Foodies.
This is when a business is added by a Fair Food Forager member (shop owner or customer). That business is then shown as a free unchecked listing.

QUESTIONS FOR FOODIES

Type “fairfoodforager” into your search bar on a laptop or desktop. *find the app at the Appstore or Google Play (From June 27, 2016).
Use the search bar to search via a suburb or category such as “Sydney” or “vegan”. You can narrow your search by typing in a suburb and a category. i.e. Sydney, vegetarian.
Alternatively, you can use the browse tab and search via suburbs already listed.
On you’re mobile or tablet, touch the pin on the map of your chosen destination. Then touch the name of the destination and the map will automatically convert to the map app. *The FFF mobile apps can automatically find your location and link to maps when GPS is enabled.
The icons each cover a different category of the businesses sustainable operations. You can align your choice with what is important to you. Businesses can achieve more icons indicating a greater level of overall sustainability.
Firstly, we trust that a business is telling the truth. Secondly Fair Food Forager staff will research, visit or audit each business on the site. Most importantly, you can use the “report this listing” , “give your feedback” or “contact us” mechanisms on the site if there is a possible issue with a listing.
In our terms of use section, you will find “Forager Law”. This lists all the categories we are looking at in order for a business to qualify. We don’t expect any business to be perfect, however we do want to encourage businesses to strive for more sustainability over time.
No, it’s about encouragement and striving for more sustainability over time. Every business has to start somewhere. But how great would it be if we could find business that were excelling in every category!
At the bottom of the businesses page, it will prompt you to register or login, from here you can rate and comment. You can also share at anytime using the social media tabs at the top of the page.
Use the “report this listing”, “give your feedback” or “contact us” mechanisms on the site to let us know the issue you are concerned about and we will investigate.
Yes, you can share a business listing using the social media tabs at the top of the listing, above the picture.
The App is GPS ready, the website is not.
Firstly, make sure they are a FFF fit. You need to know what they are doing towards being more ethical or sustainable? Then all you need to do is add their business name and address (location). Add a comment stating what you think about them. And finally add a phone number and email so we can get in touch with them and do a full audit.
The only thing we absolutely don’t condone is the sale of take away food in styrofaom packaging. What we do do is congratulate and celebrate businesses for all the little things they do. For example a business could simply be using free range eggs and buying their produce from local farmers to demonstrate that they are trying their hand at being better in order to qualify and be included.
Food has a massive impact on our planet. Waste, climate change, transport of food, packaging, litter, animal and human exploitation and deforestation are all impacted upon by our food choices. By choosing FFF businesses you are helping to create a movement that rewards business for doing the right thing and encourages them to do more, while motivating their competition to get involved. By using FFF, you will also be discovering great businesses while knowing that each meal you have has contributed more to a brighter future for our planet.

QUESTIONS FOR BUSINESS OWNERS

This isn’t just a food listing service, it is a mechanism to audit businesses and help consumers make smarter food choices. If you’re a business going above and beyond that which mainstream food businesses are doing shouldn’t you be rewarded for that? Shouldn’t customers who care about the same sort of things be able to find you? FFF will direct people who care about what and how they eat, straight to you.
They can type “fairfoodforager” into their search bar on a laptop, desktop, smart phone or tablet. Or *find the app at the Appstore or Google Play (From June 27, 2016).

There is a whole list of possible qualifiers in our terms of use or forager law. You don’t have to be perfect, just making an effort and doing your best to reduce waste and your impact on the planet will see your possible inclusion.
No not at all, although that would be incredible! Fair food forager is about building a community of businesses all trying to do the best they can for the planet and their consumers. We encourage businesses to try and celebrate businesses who succeed. We absolutely know that lots of small changes equal a big impact.
Absolutely! More ratings and better scores lift your position on the suburb page when someone is searching. If you’re a paid listing your already at the top, but with good ratings your at the top of the top. Positive comments also help your customers make the decision to head to your business.
There is always a chance that this could happen, but if you suspect something is wrong please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us and we'll investigate. AT FFF we invite constructive criticism, but we aren’t into negativity for the sake of it.
Absolutely! Use the social media links at the top of your listing to share your FFF page. Social media shares on your page helps you build FFF cred and looks good in front of perusing customers.

Paid listings mean you can add as much detail, as you’d like. FFF can be as good as having your own website - photos, youtube, comments, social media links, map locators, etc - we spread the word for you.
Not serving takeaway on Styrofoam is the only real must, but reducing food and plastic waste is a great and simple way to start. There are many other things you can do to become part of the FFF community. Please see the "Forager Law" for more information.
